KITCHEN DESIGN TRENDS 2025

Kitchen design trends 2025

Since 2022, I’ve been writing articles on kitchen trendsAnd these blogs are among those that interest you the most! I understand, because I also share this passion for modern kitchen design, lifestyle and trends, whether in interior design or even fashion. It’s a rich and inspiring field. To remain a cutting-edge kitchen designer and be considered among the best designers, I keep myself constantly informed by attending exhibitions, traveling, and working closely with our suppliers to discover what’s new, especially in kitchen cabinets and trendy 2025 tiles.

During a student exchange to Paris in 2012, I realized that Europe is often at least a year ahead of Quebec when it comes to trends. And even if social media today facilitate rapid access to the styles of the moment, it still takes a bit of courage to be avant-garde here and adopt trends first. For example, if you’re still on the fence about farmhouse style, this look has been outdated for some time now!

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you’ll have seen my viral videos where I explain why the farmhouse has become obsolete and which styles to favor for a kitchen that won’t go out of style (click on the images to view the videos).

Remember the wave of chocolate-brown kitchens in the 2000s, which quickly lost popularity! In interior design, trends last longer than in fashion, but they evolve all the same.

Here are the kitchen trends of 2025 for you to discover.

For those who also want to explore recent inspirations, don’t hesitate to consult my articles on kitchen trends 2023 and 2024. Several ideas are still very much up to date and perfect for a successful renovation this year.

1st kitchen trend in 2025: Chrome and stainless steel

This year, modern kitchens are adopting a bold touch with stainless steel islands – a real trend in the homes of the stars! This material, both resistant and elegant, brings a touch of sophistication to the kitchen, creating a modern kitchen design that’s perfectly up to date. However, be careful to balance this industrial-looking element to avoid an overly clinical, hospital-kitchen effect. Ideally, stainless steel should be combined with warm, noble materials such as wood or marble, in a vintage or classic setting, to soften its cold appearance and add character.

To integrate a stainless steel island into a kitchen without creating an overly cold, industrial ambience, the best designers know how to balance this modern look with a classic French style. By adding details such as moldings on the walls, a worked ceiling or ogee elements, a subtle contrast is created between the industrial look of steel and warmer, more classic materials. This architectural approach, which is very much in vogue, gives the kitchen a timeless elegance that draws the eye.

Modern kitchen design is not about copying industrial style and imposing it on all interiors. We’ve seen it with farmhouse style: integrating rustic farmhouse elements into a bungalow, for example, doesn’t always bring the desired result. This is where an interior designer makes all the difference. He knows how to avoid mistakes, while harmonizing styles to create a project with character and coherence.

In 2025, chrome is also making a strong comeback in faucets and plumbing finishes, a welcome change for clean-lovers because, let’s be honest, matte finishes like gold and brass, while stylish, aren’t the easiest to maintain. Chrome is a classic known for its ease of maintenance, making it a durable option suited to all kitchen designs.

A little kitchen designer advice: avoid the “coordinated set” look by over-harmonizing chrome elements, such as fixtures, handles, electrics and faucets. Instead, mix chrome finishes with other shades such as black, white, pewter, brass or even gold, for a balanced, timeless look. This creates a sophisticated and unique kitchen, resolutely in line with the 2025 kitchen trend, where the harmony of materials and textures is paramount.

2nd kitchen trend in 2025: Small ceramic tiles

The return of chrome is accompanied by another 2025 kitchen trend: small ceramic tiles, perfect for backsplashes and sometimes even the floor. In the most beautiful kitchens, solid-colored 1×1 tiles are highly prized, particularly for adding a retro or vintage touch inspired by the 70s and 80s. By using these trendy 2025 tiles, you can add texture and distinctive visual detail to the kitchen, especially by playing with contrasting grout lines for an even more striking look.

For a more modern kitchen design style, opt for grout that matches the color of the tile, creating a sleeker, more minimalist look. As I said in my article on kitchen trends 2024, mid-century style is becoming a must. This look, which is replacing the farmhouse style, incorporates rich colors, rounded shapes and natural materials like wood, but without adopting the total retro style with orange and brown geometric patterns.

When it comes to grouting small kitchen design tiles, an interior designer will often recommend an epoxy grout, which is totally waterproof and stain-resistant. This allows you to enjoy the charm of this aesthetic choice while making kitchen maintenance much easier. A little tip that will save you hours of cleaning and keep your backsplash spotless over time!

3rd kitchen trend in 2025: Colored kitchens

In 2025, colorful kitchens continue to be a big trend, marking a move away from the all-white or neutral gray kitchens typical of farmhouse kitchens. Among the kitchen colors that stand out, sage green and forest green are in vogue: these soothing, organic tones reflect a connection with nature. Sage green, in particular, offers a subtle softness that pairs well with natural woods, while forest green is perfect for a richer, more sophisticated look.

Bewitching blue is also a kitchen color trend. Shades of blue, from soft sky blue to deep navy blue, are making a strong comeback. Blue brings a touch of serenity and freshness, while remaining elegant and timeless, especially when combined with metallic accents such as brass or copper.

Continuing the kitchen trends I predicted in 2024, terracotta and earthy tones are more present than ever. They evoke a Mediterranean or bohemian ambience, adding a natural, welcoming warmth to the space.

Burgundy is also a color on the rise for kitchens in 2025. This deep, rich hue, oscillating between dark red and violet, adds a sophisticated, dramatic touch. It’s perfect for those who want a bold design while retaining a certain elegance. Burgundy blends particularly well with luxurious materials such as marble, brass or dark wood, creating a rich, elegant contrast. It can be used on cabinets for a bold look, or in subtle touches on walls or islands, adding depth without weighing down the space. It’s a hue that evokes warmth and comfort, ideal for kitchens seeking to offer an intimate, welcoming atmosphere.

The trend for colorful kitchens in 2025 is part of a desire to add personality and warmth to spaces that have long been minimalist.

4th kitchen trend for 2025: Coloured countertops

To accompany the trendy colors in the kitchens of 2025, countertops play a key role in the overall aesthetics of the space. Indeed, a well-chosen countertop can transform the ambience of a kitchen, bringing both style and functionality.

Quartz, already appreciated for its resistance and low maintenance, is now available in a wide range of bold colors. In 2025, there’s a growing trend towards more vibrant hues such as soft pinks, emerald greens, deep blues and even luminous oranges. These bold choices add a touch of personality to the kitchen, making the countertop a visual focal point.

Granite remains a popular material in kitchen design for its natural appearance and durability. With the current trend towards noble materials, granite is often paired with quartz in our designs. Although granite colors are more limited due to its 100% natural nature, terracotta, orange, yellow, pink and bluish variants can be found, adding warmth and texture to the space.

As an interior designer, I advise you to choose one color for your countertop or cabinets, but not both, to avoid a busy look. To respect chromatic harmony, follow the three-color rule: a dominant color (60%), an accent color (30%) and a complementary color (10%). This creates a pleasing visual balance in your renovation project.

If you’re not comfortable choosing colors and materials, we offer turnkey or à la carte kitchen design services, tailored to your specific needs. Don’t hesitate to contact us here to bring your modern kitchen projects to life!

5th kitchen trend in 2025: Glass blocks

The glass block wall is making a strong comeback in kitchen trends in 2025, bringing a retro yet contemporary touch to living spaces. Used in the ’80s for their ability to diffuse natural light while preserving privacy, glass blocks are back to meet today’s needs for brightness and style. In the kitchen, they offer an ideal solution for delimiting zones, while creating a bright, open ambience, perfect for spaces where conviviality and comfort are paramount. However, this trend raises a question: do we miss the totally open kitchen, where smells spread throughout the house? This return to partitions and materials such as glass paving stones reveals a possible shift towards more delimited spaces, a delicate subject that is provoking much debate on my social networks, accompanied by varied comments from my Haters.

A judicious use of glass blocks in the kitchen is to integrate them with moderation. For example, they can be installed on a specific wall to let light through, as a backsplash or even as a structural element on the central island. The advantage of this material is that it combines structural functionality with decorative aesthetics, simplifying the construction of the elements in which it is used. As a kitchen designer, I recommend working with an interior designer to maximize visual impact while ensuring harmony between different materials. This optimizes space and creates one of the most beautiful kitchens, combining style and practicality, while respecting kitchen trends 2025.

If you’re planning to renovate your kitchen in 2025, it’s essential to be aware of kitchen trends so you can stay on top of what’s new and create a space that will remain timeless. As a kitchen designer, I see all too often that people invest $40,000 to $50,000 in renovations that quickly become obsolete. It’s unfortunate to realize that your choice of style may be unwanted in just two years.

In summary, here are the trends to remember in interior design this year: the use of chrome for faucet and hardware finishes, stainless for accent cabinet doors, and the boldness of small 1×1 ceramic tiles on backsplashes or countertops. Colors also play a key role, with a preference for soothing hues like sage green, bewitching blue and deep burgundy, which bring warmth and sophistication. Finally, glass blocks are used to create divisions while letting light through. For a made-to-measure kitchen design, don’t hesitate to contact our design team. We offer 3D plans so you can visualize your concept in virtual reality.

The trends I discussed in my previous articles on kitchen trends 2024 and 2023 also continue to assert themselves. Wooden kitchens, increasingly popular with our customers, bring charm and luxury to any home. The tapered pattern remains very present, whether as an accent on the island, in ceramics or on glass doors, creating a beautiful texture for a rich kitchen design. The moody style is gaining in popularity, integrating into specific sections of the kitchen to avoid an overly dark ambience. For example, a dark scullery or a tinted glass pantry can add depth without weighing down the space.

Colors, particularly green, are extremely fashionable in kitchens, and there are many materials available to design your green kitchen. As far as arches are concerned, they remain in vogue, even if some designers and architects have overused them in recent years. We may be reaching saturation point, but for the time being, they’re still in demand.
